The Heads Network's Headship Accelerator was developed in direct response to requests from Seminar alumnae and other female leaders who are poised to enter the Head of School search process for a program that delves more deeply into topics such interview preparation to contract negotiation–and everything in between.

The Accelerator will include:

• A one-day in-person meeting immediately preceding THN's Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA (Saturday, January 23)

• Several Zoom sessions before and after the in-person meeting on:

  • Preparing for the Interview and Telling Your Story

  • The Business of Independent Schools

  • The Public/Private Self of Being a Head of School

  • Board Governance and Managing Up

  • Negotiating Your First Contract

• One-on-one meetings with a designated mentor who is a current Head

• Access to representatives from a variety of search firms

Headship Accelerator cohorts are kept intentionally small (~15 women). Should you be selected to participate, we strongly encourage you to stay in New Orleans to attend our Annual Conference for a discounted fee.

 

The application to participate includes a brief information form as well as the following elements:

• Resume/CV

• Cover letter

• Statement of educational philosophy

• Peer letter of recommendation

• Video (2-3 minutes) in which you introduce yourself to the search committee of a fictional independent school
